  • Extra Milka chocolate, grated or chopped
  • Fresh berries or chocolate shavings (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Pans:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans or line them with parchment paper.
  2. Make the Cake Batter:

    • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
    • In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  3. Bake the Cake:

    • Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
    • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
    • Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
  4. Prepare the Milka Chocolate Ganache:

    • In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer.
    • Remove from heat and add the chopped Milka chocolate. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
    • Let the ganache cool slightly before using.
  5. Prepare the Filling:

    • In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  6. Assemble the Cake:

    • Once the cakes are completely cool, level the tops if needed.
    • Place one cake layer on a serving platter and spread a layer of whipped cream over it.
    • Top with the second cake layer.
    • Pour the Milka chocolate ganache over the top of the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
  7. Decorate:

    • Garnish with grated or chopped Milka chocolate, fresh berries, or chocolate shavings if desired.
  8. Chill and Serve:

    • Refrigerate the cake for at least an hour to let the ganache set before serving.
